Preventive Healthcare

The older population – persons 65 years of older – numbered 40.3 million in 2010. They represented 12.9% of the U.S. population, about one in every eight Americans. By 2030, there will be about 72.1 million older persons, more than twice their number in 2000.

Average annual premiums for employer-sponsored coverage are $5,049 for single coverage and $13,770 for family coverage in 2010.
Four of the top ten most expensive health conditions to U.S. employers are related to heart disease and stroke (high blood pressure, heart attack, diabetes, and chest pain)
In 2008, U.S. health care costs totaled approximately $2.2 trillion or 16% of the gross domestic product. US companies have paid an average of $9,312 per employee for health care. Employees are increasingly being asked to pay a greater share of these costs.
Medical progress enables a longer life expectancy. However, a better quality of life is harder to reach.
In the US, after age 65, individual health status falls below 50% of cognitive and functional capacity. In countries like Sweden and Denmark where health education, individual medical monitoring and support of well-being are anchored at the company level, those people enjoy 10 extra years of normal cognitive and functional capacity.
It is not yet too late to participate in preventive healthcare. Preventive eHealth has great potential to meet the demands of this challenge!


Without a real investment in preventive healthcare at work, how can the US working population and businesses comply with the requirements of global productivity in an economy where our pension plans require prolonging careers beyond the age of 65?

Without preventive policy of "aging well", it will be very difficult and expensive to maintain an elderly person at home.

For 7 years La Valeriane has strived to achieve this goal particularly through the development of three innovative applications of preventive e-health.
